Seth Brian Terry

Seth

This is the little arrow that officially filled our quiver. We are so thankful that the Lord gave us another little boy so that we would have two of each.
Seth is 17 months old (born March 6th, 2005) and lives every moment to its full potential. He is always eager to play peek-a-boo or cat-n-mouse with just the slightest suggestion. Seth also loves to carry on a full conversation in his own jabber language; it is funny to watch him mimic adult banter and gestures.
Brian and I are anxious to see how Seth's personality is going to develop in relation to the other children. He already seems to prefer McKaylah when he's in trouble, he likes to drag Luke around and play with all of his toys, and he does his best to avoid Emmaline (since she likes to pretend like he's her baby) unless she has something that looks interesting.
Right now, he's just a little Mama's boy - and I like it that way! He enjoys snuggling just like the others and I treasure these special times!
We thank the Lord for giving us our little Seth! We desire the wisdom of the Lord to properly train him to serve HIM!

Emmaline Ruth Terry

Emmaline

And then there's the third arrow in our quiver - Emmaline. Where can I possible start? Well, bottom line - she's a rascal!

Emmaline is our social butterfly! She will speak to just about anyone on command (McKaylah and Luke like to play shy) and within minutes she will make you a friend. She'll ask - your name?, your "Honey's" name??, why you're wearing whatever you have on???, where's your pocketbook????, if you have any chapstick??????, where's your house????? And on it will go until you are all out of answers. All of these things are very important to her. She is our little fashion diva that just has to have on a skirt, a clip (for her hair), jewelry and shoes to match(or not - as long as they are flip flops or high heals - she's fine).

One thing you should also know about Emmaline is that she lives in her own little imaginary pink world. Almost every story she tells is completely made-up and will most certainly bring a smile! In her world she does what she wants to do, so sometimes her world collides with mine and she just doesn't understand!

Emmaline (as do most other three year olds) just wants to be like the big girls. We often tell her - "you're too little!" But in her imaginary pink world she can go anywhere and do anything. She loves playing with her baby dolls and telling stories about their adventures together. She will make a wonderful mama one day - she spends everyday practicing!

We thank the Lord for our sweet Emmaline! We desire the wisdom of the Lord to properly train her to serve HIM!

Luke Darren Terry

Luke
Luke is the second arrow in our quiver. Luke received the Lord as his personal Savior on February 27th, 2006. (The same day as McKaylah!) When we began to talk to McKaylah about some of her questions and fears, Luke would not be quiet - he kept interrupting saying, "Yes, I've been thinking about getting saved. I believe..." He was just full of information and wanted to answer all of our questions before McKaylah even had a chance. When we bowed down around our ottoman, McKaylah prayed first and then Luke (rather anxiously) followed. He is very sensitive to spiritual things - may we always nurture this and help him to continue on this wonderful path.

Luke is four years old (born November 3rd, 2001) and tends to be the quiet one in the bunch. He enjoys going to his room and lining up all of his army guys to have a battle. He also likes to play with his little match box cars on his race track or build interesting things with his Tinker Toys. Recently, he has been getting out his Legos when Seth is down for a nap and trying to follow the instructions to build different modes of transportation. Oh yeah - how could I forget the action figures! What little boy doesn't love Spiderman, Star Wars, Incredibles, Superman, Batman and all the others. He loves to dress up in his Spiderman costume and rescue the girls. Best of all, I would have to say Luke likes his weapons. He has guns, swords, light sabers and knives (all child-safe toys of course). Yet every time that we see a different one he says, "I don't have one like that!" He will probably be a collector one day!

Another thing Luke likes to do is wrestle - with - well, anyone who is on the ground. You have to watch out around here. If you just bend down to pick something up, one of the children jump on you before you can even brace yourself! We are thankful that they are healthy and energetic kids!

We thank the Lord for giving us Luke! We desire the wisdom of the Lord to properly train him to serve HIM!

McKaylah Lauryn Terry

McKaylah
McKaylah was the first arrow in our (now full) quiver. She asked the Lord to be her personal Savior on February 27th, 2006 in our home. After we noticed that McKaylah was having some serious fears about death and Hell, we sat down with her to discuss these issues, and she decided to ask the Lord to relieve her fear and be her Savior. What a blessing!!
She is six years old and will begin the first grade next week. We really enjoyed our homeschool experience last year and plan to continue for first grade. McKaylah is a great reader (anything on K5 or 1st grade) and really enjoys math. Kindergarten seemed to be a breeze for her, so maybe things will be a little more challenging this year!
McKaylah's most recent favorite pastime is turning cartwheels (she still stands on her head sometimes, but she's trying to mix it up a little). Since she has mastered completing multiple somersaults in quick succession, I think she has decided to replace walking with a "head-over heels" approach! She is a very energetic young lady who loves a challenge.
McKaylah also takes piano lessons. Her teacher took a break for the summer, but we plan to continue them this school year. The Lord has definitely blessed McKaylah with musical ability. When the children sing together, she can sing the harmony part to any song - I love it!
When McKaylah is not tumbling or singing, she has recently begun spending time using the computer. We have discovered several great websites with fun and educational games to help her learn to use the keyboard and maneuver through different programs. She is a quick learner and enjoys having something quiet to do while the other children are resting.
We thank the Lord for giving us McKaylah! We desire the wisdom of the Lord to properly train her to serve the Him.

Solid Rock Independent Baptist Church

Youth Meeting - July 29th, 2006
We hosted our very first youth meeting this past Saturday! The Lord has burdened ours hearts to begin a regular time for youth in this area. We desire for them to meet other good young folks from around Pickens, SC and surround themselves with good Christian friends.
Our first meeting was excellent! Brian is pictured here with the four preachers (listed left to right) - Bro. Robbie Proffitt, Jr. (Life Baptist Church, St. Stevens, SC), Bro.Isham Gilcrease (Victory Baptist church, Easley, SC), Bro. Phillip Willis (Life Baptist Church, St. Stevens, SC), and Pastor Travis Parker (Zirconia Baptist Church, Zirconia, NC).
The Lord really blessed the meeting - we only have two faithful teenagers at our church and the rest are mostly older people. Our building was filled to capacity (about 165) with young people from all around this area. We invited guest musicians and singers from other churches to help us out, and we just experienced a tremendous service. Pray for us as we plan for the next meeting in September!

Vacation in Pigeon Forge

Great Times at Dollywood!

Vacation with Peepaw and Meemaw is always fun! (Besides - they know their way around Dollywood better than anyone else in the family! And that's not even mentioning the free parking, Daddy's 20% discount on everything, Mama's refillable drink cup, babysitters so we can ride something, extra hand-holders for the children - have I convinced you yet?!?!) Yes, we had a great time! Daddy and Mama always map out where we need to be and when so that we don't miss the good shows. They also have tried out most of the food and always know where to get the best buy for our dollar!

We all enjoy watching the children light up when they see a ride and share their anticipation for their turn. McKaylah was disappointed that she could not ride the adult rides, Luke was content just running under the mist showers, Emmaline wanted to make sure she got the PINK one every time, and Seth was happy just to go in circles! What a day!

Vacation in Pigeon Forge

Great Times at Dollywood!

Mama and Daddy invited us to go to Pigeon Forge with them for a couple of days this week and we are so glad that we did! Dollywood had their summer Kid's Fest going on and really had some different things going on for children. The photos here were taken at the Imagination Playhouse with the Penguin Players. We were able to see all three live performances of different children's books. Each story was excellent - even Daddy & Mama and Meemaw & Peepaw enjoyed the shows! They performed "The Little Engine that Could", "Officer Buckle & Gloria", and "My Lucky Day." Each story taught a different lesson - believe in yourself, never leave your buddy, and "you gotta be ready." Dolly Parton wrote a song for each book that made the moral of the story easy to remember. We had a great time!

Fun at Night

Curly Girls

We found some hotsticks at Walmart and the girls could not wait to try them out! Sooooooo when we made it home about 9:30 pm, were plugged them up at started with rolling hair. McKaylah always tells me that she wishes she were Hannah so she could have curly hair - well, this is as close as we can get! Emmaline's hair was a little short, but she had to have curls just like the big girls. Taylor's (McKaylah's friend) turned out beautiful, since her hair is so long. Anyway, the next morning they had plenty of left over curl and even more tangles! The girls had fun staying up late and trying out their new curlers!

Terry Family Formal Photograph

The Terry Family
April 2006
Here's the whole clan! This is a rare moment when everyone's hair is brushed, shoes are on (except Seth), nails are clipped, and we look relatively descent! Yes, this did not last but a few minutes, so I'm glad that we were able to capture a moment of sanity. This family photo was taken a few weeks before Easter this year (2006). The girls were so excited to finally wear their dresses after watching them hang in the closet for a couple of weeks. We are a very blessed family - four healthy and very active children. We also broke up into smaller groups after this picture, so I'll post those later! It was really hard to get all four of the children to smile at the same time, so a we accepted the half-way unsure smiles that you see here on McKaylah and Seth. Emmaline kept over doing her smile (imagine that), so we had to tell her to take it down a notch. Luke just stood there looking handsome until it was all over - what a great job!
