Luke's 5th Birthday

Happy Birthday Luke!

On Monday, November the 6th, 2006, we celebrated Luke's 5th birthday! Birthdays are always fun for us because we get to spend time with our extended family. Brian's parents, grandmother, and brother and sister usually come, and the Speer clan also comes to help us celebrate.

It's hard to believe that Luke is already five - he will be starting kindergarten in August of 2007. This year, we have been doing some K4 stuff and he really does great. After he started listening in on some of McKaylah's school, he became very interested in the Heritage and Science lessons. I would usually teach her the lesson, and then after Luke got up from resting, I would basically reteach it by answering all of his questions. Now he participates in those two subjects and then lays down to rest. He learns like a sponge, just soaking it in.
Back to his birthday, Luke decided that he wanted a Star Wars themed party this year. He enjoys watching those movies (old and new) and also a couple of animated versions that Joseph gave him (although he girls usually moan and groan at his selection). He is also intrigued by the light sabers; he and Seth "fight" with theirs almost everyday.

It was easy to buy Luke a birthday present this year because he kept me posted on the things that he wanted. A pair of Crocs ("like Dad's" he would say), a CD player, costumes, and the Lego Star Wars game for our Gamecube were at the top of it. If anyone asked, I passed on his list; he received a lot of great gifts! I hope Luke always remembers how blessed he is to spend this day with people who love him. The gifts are the icing on the cake!

The guest at Luke's party were: Papa (Bo Patterson), Nana (Evelyn Patterson), Peepaw (John Speer), Meemaw (Shirley Speer) Granny (Brian's grandmother -Clessie Evans), Uncle Brad, Uncle David & Aunt Becky, Uncle Jonathan & Aunt Heather, Uncle Jospeph & Elizabeth (his girlfriend), McKaylah, Emmaline, Seth, Hannah and Abbie Tripp!
We enjoyed this special day with Luke! This next year holds a bounty of new things that he will learn and experience! Last year, he made the most important decision of his life, to become a Christian. We desire to see him grow in many ways!
We love you Luke!
